Bangalore - the IT hub of India is a beautiful city also known as the "Garden City" of India with lots of lakes and trees surrounding the city. It has some of the biggest malls in India along with some of the bestest pubs and cafes to suit your needs. So if you are in Bangalore make sure to visit some of the places listed below. If you have more time on your hands - exploring the outskirts of Bangalore is even worthy. Without further ado let's dive into exploring the delightful city - Bengaluru !!

 

Within Bangalore city:

 

sankey tank1. At the top of the list I would suggest visiting some of the oldest lakes in the heart of the city - the Ulsoor lake or the Sankey tank.

Take a stroll around the lake, watch the birds or the squirrels. And the gorgeous sunset is a must to witness. Just near to Sankey tank at a distance of about 3.4 kms is the Orion mall which happens to be one of the biggest malls in Bangalore plus a lake promenade that adds to its charm next to it is the World Trade Center and the Grand Sheraton Hotel. If you love temples visit the Iskcon temple at a distance of about 1.2kms from Orion mall - a serene atmosphere dedicated to the worship of Lord Krishna.

Instead If you are visiting the Ulsoor lake make sure to visit St. Mary's Basilica just at a distance of 2 kms from the lake.

 

 

2. Glass House - Lal Bagh Being the "Garden City" of India one cannot miss out the gardens. One of the biggest and oldest gardens is the Lalbagh Botanical Garden with an over 200-year history. It is quite huge with a total of 240 acres along with a lake, a rock with a watch tower , bonsai park and a glass house. Flowers shows are organised annually on Independence day and Republic day which can never be missed out. Visit UB city at a distance of just 4 kms for a luxury shopping trip.

Another one on the list is Cubbon park and Vidhana Soudha at a distance of about 2.5 kms.

 

 

 

3. bugle rock Next on the list is Bugle Rock park just at a distance of 1.4kms from Lal bagh. It's smaller than Lalbagh but is less crowded and peaceful. It also has a  watch tower. It is an abrupt rise above the ground of peninsular gneiss as the main rock formation and with an assessed age of about 3,000 million years. Adjacent to Bugle Rock park is the Bull temple built in 1537 and the Shri Dodda Ganapathi Temple.

 

 

 

 

 

4. Time to explore some History - the Bangalore Palace! This royal palace has been built in the Tudor style of architecture, with Scottish Gothic influences - is a must visit when in Bangalore

5. Tipu Sultan's Summer Palace built in 1791 an Indo-Islamic architecture where Tipu Sultan used to conduct his durbar or court from the eastern and western balconies of the upper floor. Just at a distance of about 1km is the Bangalore Fort which also dates back to the 17th century.

6.  Bannerghatta National ParkBannerghatta National Park houses a variety of birds and animals but is particularly famous for tiger and lion safaris - best place for spending a day with family and friends or even solo. In another 14 kms from the national park is a waterfalls called TK falls/Thottikallu falls.


7. nandi hills Nandi Hills is one of the most popular attractions in Bangalore, famous for the Sunrise and Sunset. Situated at a height of 4851 feet - Nandi hills is 62kms from Bangalore city. September to February is the best time to visit where mornings are misty, foggy and covered in clouds. Witnessing the sunrise amidst the clouds feels like heaven. Near to Nandi Hills is a 9th century built temple - Sri Bhoga Nandishwara Gudi. One more attraction on the way to Nandi hills is the Devanahalli fort - the birth place of Tipu Sultan.

8. Art of Living International Centre is 21kms from the Bangalore city on the Kanakpura Road, at the top of the Panchagiri Hills. Even if you are not engaged in any of the activities, meditation or yoga, one can still have a good time amidst nature. Just relax and enjoy the breeze, calmness and tranquil atmosphere.

9. mandargiriMandargiri Hill is 63 kms from Bangalore in the Tumkur district of Karnataka. A jain temple with a peacock design is the main attraction along with a trek leading to the top of the hill. Views from the top overlooking a lake and the surroundings is just breath taking. The lake is also worth visiting - very peaceful and serene. Only drawback is - no proper food stalls and no washrooms are available.

10. A trip to Mysore known as the "the City of Palaces" - 143kms from Bangalore is rich in Cultural heritage. Most eminent of all the atrractions is the Mysore Palace - a royal residence. Some other attractions includes: Amba Vilas Palace, Jaganmohan Palace, Lalitha Mahal Palace, Rajendra Vilas Palace, Cheluvamba Mansion, Karanji Mansion,  Jayalakshmi Vilas Mansion  and the Chamundi hills.
